The ACI Greater Michigan Chapter, together with our meeting sponsor, invite you to join us on April 14, 2026 for a presentation on The Second Avenue bridge over I-94 in Detroit is the first skewed, unbraced network arch bridge constructed in the United States. The superstructure frame was erected off-site at a bridge staging area and subsequently transported and placed over the I-94 freeway using self-propelled modular transporters and lateral launching. This presentation describes design details, the construction process, the performance of the concrete mix with 67% SCMs used in post-tensioned components, the condition assessment and health monitoring process, and the in-service performance.
