The American Concrete Institute (ACI) has joined the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC), reinforcing its commitment to advancing concrete knowledge, supporting the next generation of professionals, and strengthening the connection between academia and industry. ACI’s mission, to advance knowledge of concrete and its use, relies on collaboration across education, research, and practice. By becoming an ASC member, ACI is expanding its engagement with universities and faculty who play a critical role in preparing future leaders in the built environment. ACI also encourages ASC members to take advantage of the ACI Faculty Network, a free connection group for educators interested in ACI and the concrete industry, as well as the Professors’ Resources for ACI/ASCC Contractor’s Guide to Quality Concrete Construction (4th Edition), instructional materials for 12 weeks of course content suitable to use when assembling a course syllabus. “Joining ASC aligns directly with ACI’s strategic priorities, particularly our focus on advancing expertise, disseminating knowledge, and enhancing the ACI experience,” said Claire Hiltz, director, Professional Development, ACI. “Academic institutions are essential to the future of the concrete industry, and our membership allows us to better support educators and students while ensuring our resources are integrated into the classroom.” ACI’s Strategic Plan emphasizes the importance of education, global collaboration, and innovation in addressing the evolving needs of the construction industry. Membership in ASC strengthens ACI’s ability to deliver on several key goals: Advancing Expertise: By connecting with ASC member schools, ACI can support curriculum development and provide access to technical resources that enhance student learning. Disseminating Knowledge: Collaboration with faculty enables broader integration of ACI publications, codes, and standards into academic programs. Engaging Globally: ASC’s academic network expands ACI’s reach among institutions shaping the future workforce worldwide. Advancing Sustainability and Resiliency: Partnering with educators fosters early exposure to sustainable concrete practices and emerging technologies. Enhancing the ACI Experience: Engagement with students and faculty creates new pathways for involvement, from student chapters to research and career development opportunities. Through its ASC membership, ACI aims to deepen relationships with construction education programs, support faculty with teaching resources, and provide students with greater access to industry knowledge, certifications, and professional pathways. For students, ACI opens doors to new career opportunities through a premier free membership for those who want to make the most of their education.
